Portfolio Careers

Have you heard of portfolio careers? – I think the concept is really about building a portfolio life!

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? …Not much.” ~ Jim Rohn

Marianne Cantwell gives great advice.  In this article (aimed at people in their 20-30’s) Marianne explains the benefits of a portfolio career. She says you need lots of energy.
I think the more you do the things that you love; the more energy you have. I therefore believe portfolio careers can benefit any age group.

I have lots of energy and enthusiasm for a variety of interests….Is a portfolio career/life for you?

Perfectionists might find that a portfolio career is stressful…. to combat stress be sure to prioritise what is important to you;  for me, that means prioritising the customer’s interests. I think this Zig Ziglar quote is apt: ‘You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want’.

Do you have multiple interests, learn quickly, multitask and find the idea of being restricted to ‘just one thing’ — even your favourite thing — is the worst thought in the world?

Then a portfolio career might be right for you…do please comment below to let me know your thoughts
